This is the first piece of what I hope is a series of very simple forms inspired primarily by tool forms, both ancient and contemporary. I am particularly drawn to forms that transcend time, culture and purpose. This piece for example is similar to both ancient and contemporary axe forms, middle Eastern and African amulets and has a definite anthropomorphic feel. It is simple and powerful at a very deep level of historic and cultural consciousness.
